Which credit union leads the nation in revenue per dollar of salary?

Merck Employees (NJ) leads all credit unions in the amount of revenue generated per dollar spent on salary and benefits. Merck, a SEG-based credit union, earned $17.77 in income per dollar of salary and benefits. A number of credit unions in the top ten are SEG-based, and as such, some of them have their payroll subsidized. This can boost the relative amount of revenue per salary cost. As salary and benefits are the largest expense for credit unions, it is wise to measure the income generated by employees.

All in all, four credit unions posted revenue greater than $10 for each dollar of salary and benefits. The list includes NCPD (NY), Kula Community (HI), and Bucks County Employees (PA). The national average for all credit unions greater than $20 million in assets was $3.31 of revenue per dollar of salary and benefits cost for the third quarter.

  • Mead Coated Board (#6 and #7) lists it's assets at $47 million on its website. Something is off with the data.
