The industry’s average member relationship stood at $15,599 in the same quarter 2013, marking the highest year of average member relationship on record for the industry. Every asset-based peer group saw an increase in average member relationship as the growth in loans and shares outpaced the membership growth over the past year.
Among all asset-based peer groups, credit unions between $20 million and $50millin in assets saw the highest annual growth in average member relationship. Over the past year, these credit unions posted a 3.11% increase in average member relationship to reach $10,164. Credit unions between $10 million and $20 million came in second with 3.02% growth in average member relationship to stand at $8,394 as of June 2013. Credit unions over $1 billion in assets reported the highest average member relationship at $18,774 as of second quarter, followed by the next largest peer group’s $15,951.
