With housing inventory remaining scarce and the average 30-year mortgage rate higher than it’s been in years, homeownership is increasingly out of reach for many Americans. For renters, the situation is even more distressing. According to the National Low-Income Housing Coalition’s 2023 annual report, there is a national shortage of 7.3 million affordable rental homes for extremely low-income renters.
During this webinar, Callahan & Associates’ VP, Marketing And Media, Alexandra Gekas , will moderate an interactive discussion focused on how cooperatives can help more members put homeownership within reach and combat the housing crisis in their local communities. From University Federal Credit Union’s partnership to expand affordable-housing options in south Austin to WSECU’s new homeownership initiative, panelists will share their multi-pronged approaches, along with key lessons learned and advice for others. Panelists include Chris Turnley, executive vice president of member experience for UFCU, and David Puszczewicz, director of community homeownership development for WSECU.
Webinar attendees will learn:
Why these credit unions choose to prioritize affordable-housing initiatives
How they vetted community partners and implemented specific tactics
What results they’ve seen to date from these new approaches.
