The largest joint giving to one entity from State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) and the SECU Foundation was announced today – a $5 million contribution to the Dix Park Conservancy to support the development of a historic 308-acre public site into an urban park in Raleigh, the Dorothea Dix Park.

SECU Foundation recently announced a grant for Tried By Fire, a Craven County non-profit that helps previously incarcerated women re-enter society through supportive, community-based housing.

SECU Foundation has awarded The Health Foundation a $40,000 grant that will help build capacity and expand programs and services to improve access to healthcare and promote the well-being of residents in the North Carolina High Country region.

SECU Foundation recently provided a $40,000 grant to Open Table, a non-profit organization that supports community partners across the state to promote independence and self-sufficiency for transitional-age youth aging out of the foster care system. The funding will help strengthen the organization’s relationship network and expand services in rural northwestern communities of North Carolina.

SECU Foundation provided Hospitality House of Northwest North Carolina a grant of $40,000 to help expand programs and services to help the homeless in Northwest North Carolina. Last year, the non-profit provided over 147,000 meals and approximately 40,000 nights of housing, counseling, and critical services to those in need.

SECU Foundation recently provided a $40,000 grant to the Children’s Council of Watauga County (CCWC), a non-profit that facilitates programs and partnerships to bridge early education, health services, and family support to meet the needs of young children and families.

SECU Foundation has provided a $40,000 grant to the YMI Cultural Center in Asheville to help expand support and programming.

SECU Foundation is pleased to award Marian Cheek Jackson Center (MCJC) a $40,000 grant to help the non-profit expand affordable housing and advance community preservation efforts in three historically black neighborhoods in Chapel Hill and Carrboro.

SECU Foundation has provided a $40,000 grant to the Catherine H. Barber Memorial Shelter, a non-profit homeless shelter that has been serving men, women, and children in Wilkes County for over 35 years.
