A couple weeks ago TDECU received this feedback from a member: “Madison and Brook have been performing exceptionally hard for me. I lost my husband and without Brook I would not have been able to bury him. Brook and Madison took care of my finances when I had a scam that almost took all my savings. God bless them and thank you TDECU for employing them!”
A TDECU member of many years lost her husband last spring. She visited our Cuero member center to request a loan for his funeral. Brook recalls sitting with they member as they shared tears and memories of her husband. A short time later, the member returned with a cashier’s check from another bank and asked to withdraw money from her TDECU account. She seemed distressed, and Madison asked a few gentle questions. In that conversation, Madison discovered the member was acting under instructions from someone who had reached out to her … a red flag for a potential scam.
The member was unsure of what was happening because she was still dealing with her husband’s passing. Madison and Brook spoke to her about the scam, updated her security information, and ultimately prevented her from losing her savings.
