Guidance, Trust, And A Path To Homeownership

Sidney Federal Credit Union

When I first met this member two years ago, she was seeking a small personal loan to cover car repairs. She was concerned about being approved due to ongoing health issues that limited her ability to work regular hours. She had already been denied by other financial institutions and decided to apply with us as a last resort, since her auto loan was already financed here. We worked closely with her and were able to get the loan approved with a co-borrower, allowing her to fix her car. At the same time, we created a plan to help her rebuild her credit so she could qualify independently in the future.

After successfully paying off that loan, she was approved for another personal loan and a secured credit card — both without a co-borrower. A few months later, the member chose to make us her primary financial institution because of the support and guidance she received with her loans and accounts. In December 2025, she returned to the branch believing she would not qualify for a home loan and was concerned that the amount she needed to borrow would be too low for a traditional mortgage. After consulting with our mortgage department and reviewing her income and borrowing needs — $45,000 — we determined that a personal loan with a co-borrower would be the best solution. The loan was approved, enabling her to purchase her first home. She was incredibly excited and grateful. She has since moved into her new home, continues to build her credit, and regularly stops by to thank us!
