In 2024, DCFCU proudly awarded $1,025,000 in home purchasing assistance grants to members of our community, helping turn the dream of homeownership into a reality for eleven families. One of the first families to benefit from the grant was a long‑time member of DCFCU for nearly a decade. She had been searching for the right home for years, but like so many first‑time homebuyers in our community, the cost of purchasing a home always seemed just out of reach.
After receiving assistance through our program, she was finally able to secure a beautiful home in a safe, welcoming neighborhood for herself and her family. Beyond the joy of homeownership, she is now saving money thanks to the drastic reduction in her housing costs compared to the outrageous rent prices that have plagued the area. In fact, she has even been able to put money into a savings certificate with us, helping set her up for a more secure future.
