A Different Kind Of Collections Story

Western Vista Federal Credit Union

A member was struggling to manage payments on two vehicles. She hoped to keep both, but recurring past-due issues made that unsustainable, and it was important that she be able to keep at least one reliable vehicle. Through several honest and sometimes difficult conversations, a solution was found: she surrendered one vehicle and wrapped the remaining balance into the other loan. This allowed her to move forward with a single payment that better aligned with her income. She agreed this was the best decision and expressed genuine relief that a workable solution was possible.

Nearly a year later, she has not been past due once — a strong reminder of the impact thoughtful, member-focused problem-solving can have. These are the kinds of conversations that take place with any member who is willing to engage and accept help getting back on track. At Western Vista, the goal is always to work alongside members, even during the most challenging times, because membership is our foundation. This is not a typical collections approach. The focus is on partnership, understanding, and doing everything possible to help members succeed.
