From Searching To Settled: A First-Time Homebuyer’s Journey With OnPath

For as long as she could remember, Olivia Stallan knew she wanted to be a teacher. Raised primarily by her mother, she learned early the value of independence and planning for the future. After earning her degree from LSU, she followed her career to New Orleans and quietly dreamed of one day owning a home of her own. Even with careful preparation, the process felt intimidating.

“So much of it was just figuring out the logistics and how everything works,” she says.

Like many first-time buyers, she turned to research — hours of Googling about programs for first-time homeowners. That search led her to OnPath and a first-time homebuyer grant that changed everything. Working with OnPath, especially her loan officer Ashley, made the unfamiliar suddenly feel manageable.

“I had a million questions, and Ashely was always happy to explain things in a way I understood,” Olivia says. “It made me feel confident, like I knew what I was getting into and that I could actually do it.”

Then came the moment every buyer waits for: walking into the house. “When I saw it the first time, I just knew,” Olivia says.

No longer worrying about when she might have to move again, Olivia finally feels settled.

“It’s improved my quality of life,” she shares. “Now I feel like this is home for the foreseeable future.”

For OnPath, stories like Olivia’s are exactly why the work matters, helping educators, first-time buyers, and hardworking community members turn uncertainty into confidence and dreams into keys!
