From Transaction To Connection

Western Vista Federal Credit Union

This summer, one of our members stopped by the branch to make a quick deposit. As we chatted, she mentioned that she’d just finished her last round of chemotherapy. Her whole face lit up when she said it. You could feel the joy radiating from her. I congratulated her, and she smiled, her voice catching a little as she said, “thank you.”

After she left, I couldn’t stop thinking about her. It didn’t feel right to let that moment end with a simple “congratulations.” I reached out to our leadership team, and together we arranged to send her flowers and a card. A few days later, we received a handwritten thank you note, sharing how much the gesture meant to her.

Moments like this remind me why we do what we do. In the end, it’s not about the transactions, it’s about people. We were so happy to share in this victory with one of our members and honored that she shared such a personal moment with us.
