RVA Financial Federal Credit Union has proudly granted $4.1 million in mortgages, enabling residents of the City of Richmond to achieve their dreams of homeownership. We have a truly inspiring success story featuring one of our members who re-entered society after being in the corrections system. Through our credit coaching, he increased his credit score from the 400s to the 700s. This significant improvement allowed him to secure his first apartment and ultimately become a homeowner through our first-time homeowner program.
Our member’s journey is a story of resilience and transformation. After incarceration, he worked hard with our credit union to rebuild his credit and gain financial literacy. His dedication paid off when he was approved for personal and vehicle loans, marking key milestones in his journey to financial independence. Today, he is a Senior Supervising Organizer at the Legal Aid Justice Center, advocating for justice and equality. He has even written his own book and has a book signing this month at the Richmond Library. He dreams of owning a home by the water. He has officially been pre-approved through RVA Financial’s first-time homeowner program, and we’re actively helping him find his perfect home. His journey is a true testament to resilience, growth, and the power of community support.
