A married couple came to us seeking a mortgage to purchase a family home. One member’s grandmother was moving into assisted living, and they were determined to keep the home in the family. They had been actively participating in our BOSS program to prepare for budgeting a mortgage payment and understanding the full costs of homeownership. Through the program, they strengthened their budgeting skills and set aside approximately $5,000 over several months. While this was not enough for a traditional mortgage down payment, it was sufficient for the CPCU Pathway Mortgage.
During the process, the members worked through credit challenges and financial education as part of the BOSS program, which positioned them for approval. We were able to approve them for a Pathway mortgage. Unfortunately, during this time, the grandmother passed away. The family worked through several legal details to transfer the home into the members’ names, and ultimately, we were able to close the loan.
The members are now able to raise their children and continue growing their family in the home filled with many cherished memories.
